To rid the smell after an unfortunate bout of sickness, clean the area thoroughly, then place a bowl of vinegar on the floor and leave overnight. This works very well in a car as well, especially in warm weather. Leave the bowl on the floor of the car overnight, with the doors and windows shut.
Get the stale cigarette smoke smell out of clothes by adding 1 cup (225ml) of vinegar to a bath of hot water. Hang the clothes above the steam. Leave them in the bathroom overnight, with a window open if possible.

There’s no need to buy the more expensive fragrance-filled brands of cat litter when you have some extra baking soda in the house. Fill the litter box halfway with cat litter and then spread a layer of baking soda (about 1 cup or 220g), followed by another layer of litter.
Add approximately 1 3/4 oz (15g) each of sage, rosemary, mint, rue, and wormwood to 2 1/2 cups (570ml) of wine or cider vinegar. Allow the herbs to stand in the vinegar for about a week in a warm place. Strain and use as an air freshener or to control unpleasant smells.
